Perlite insulation board, also known as waterproof perlite insulation board, is made of expanded perlite block material as aggregate, adding waterproofing agent and binder, by preparation, screening, pressure molding, drying and other processes.
Expanded perlite is a white ultra-lightweight aggregate that ranges from very fine powders to aggregates with a particle size of up to 6 mm. It is inorganic, inert, pH neutral, biostable and asbestos-free. It provides excellent thermal insulation over an extremely wide temperature range.
It also has a highly adsorbent surface and very low packing density, which makes it an ideal carrier or low-cost filler for many compound formulations.
The advantage of perlite insulation products is that they contain rust inhibitors, which are activated if the insulation comes into contact with moisture. This inhibitor neutralizes any chloride present, thus greatly reducing, if not completely eliminating, underinsulation corrosion.
